King of Glory
January 19th, 2025
Psalm 24:1-10
With great pageantry, Psalm 24 was sung as David and his entourage brought the ark of the covenant back into the temple. It was sung in parts by soloists and choirs. Some lines were sung in answer to one another. As heavy doors were raised with huge pulleys, the question was sung out, “Who is this King of glory?” No doubt about it: Psalm 24 is about a holy God! He’s King, the one with the crown, the one on a throne!
He’s been King since birth (Matthew 2:2), since time began (Psalm 74:12), and He’ll be King forevermore! (Psalm 10:16)
In Psalm 24:8, He is described as “The LORD strong and mighty, the LORD mighty in battle.” Isn’t that the God you want fighting for you and protecting you against your enemies every day?
Another question was also asked, “Who may approach such a King?” (see v. 3) The Bible is clear: Only those with “clean hands and a pure heart” (v. 4). That is, sins forgiven, the things we’ve done, and pure hearts, sanctified through and through.
Do you have clean hands and a pure heart? Then open up the gates for the King to come in!
