God Came!
January 13th, 2025
Isaiah 60:1-7
I’ve tried my best to stay in tune with the Spirit. Occasionally, during Sunday worship, I would strongly feel that the sermon I had worked on all week was not the one for that day. My first reaction would be panic, and then I would pray. Once the singing had ceased, I’d explain to the congregation that I was tucking my outline back in my Bible for another day. I’d read the new verse just given to me by the Spirit, exhort for a moment, then open the altars, which always filled with seekers. I would write on my diary for that Sunday, “Pastor didn’t preach—GOD CAME!”
That’s what happened for Israel in a day of darkness. Sin was everywhere, but GOD CAME! “Arise, shine” (v. 1) was God’s wake-up call on Israel. A new day was dawning. God’s presence brought light and redemption for the Jewish people, just as it does for us. “The people walking in darkness have seen a great light” (9:2).
The presence of Christ brings us hope. We must always invite His presence and continually live our lives in the Spirit.
