Clean Hearts, Soft Hands

Hebrews 3:7-15
What has the power to harden our hearts? The writer of Hebrews discusses the effects of rebellion as he references the rebellion of the Hebrews in Egypt. Hearts may be hardened when motivated by selfishness.
It is difficult to let go of our past hurts and live in a constant state of forgiveness. When we live in a flow of forgiveness, we are completely filled with the power of the Holy Spirit. It is easy to allow our hurts to encase our hearts in a ledger of wrongs done to us. Hardened hearts can arm themselves against empathy and are filled with bitterness.
How can we keep our hands clean and our hearts soft? We must turn to the living God when we make a mistake or sin. We must turn to God when worries about our world are insurmountable. “See to it, brothers and sisters, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God” (v. 12).
No power exists that can limit the power of God to cleanse our minds and hands or soften our hearts.
