Reap The Blessings

January 10th, 2025

2 Corinthians 9:6-15

My grandmother used the King James Version to repeat the truth from Galatians 6:7: “Whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.” She was teaching me the simple reality that we can plant joy, worry, kindness, grace, or anger; whatever we plant, those seeds will grow into our fruit.

Plants need nurture and care to bloom in their full potential. One seed crucial for Christians to plant is a seed of blessing. We have been given baskets of blessings by the living God and we need to rest in the beauty of those blessings. If blessings are sown, what would that harvest look like? Paul wrote to the Corinthians, “God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work” (2 Corinthians 9:8).

It’s important to know that God not only desires to bless us, but to bless us abundantly. When we are blessed abundantly, not only are we encouraged to share the blessings, we become a blessing.

Look around at the life you live and plant the seed of blessing from the God who gives them abundantly.

We can learn so much from God’s creation. Plants are very vital to our wellbeing and if we watch how they grow, we can learn many lessons. You plant and you only get the fruit if that plant receives proper nourishment. The same is true of our spiritual life. When we read Scripture, we must allow it to plant seeds of blessings in our heart and mind. When we do that, we reap abundant growth that we can pass on to others. Thank God for His Word. Amen.
