Love Letters

Isaiah 43:1-7
It was the summer of the year 2000. Mark was in seminary in Kansas City and had started dating a wonderful lady named Stefanie. Late that summer, he was asked to preach at a youth camp in central California. As he boarded the plane to fly out west, he opened his travel case and found a letter from Stefanie. It was the first true love letter he had received in years and years. Somewhere over Kansas, Mark read that letter and thought to himself for the first time, “I think I love this woman.” She’s now his wife of 23 years, and that letter still has a special place in his memories.
Isaiah 43 is a love letter from God to God’s people. Listen to the words of the God who is wooing His people to remain faithful: “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine . . . . Since you are precious and honored in my sight, and because I love you . . . . Do not be afraid, for I am with you” (vv. 1, 4-5). God loves these people!
We are God’s people, too. God has a special place in God’s heart . . . for you.
