A God of Comfort
November 8th, 2024
2 Corinthians 1:1-11
Paul begins his second letter to the Corinthians with a word of hope and good news. Our God is the God of comfort and compassion! The Lord draws near to those who are suffering and broken; He provides comfort in the midst of dark circumstances.
The good news for us today is that our God is the same as Paul described so long ago. Our God is still the God of comfort for the hurting. Moreover, God comforts us so that we may offer this same comfort to those around us. This is just in God’s nature, isn’t it? God pours out blessings, but this is not to be hoarded or kept for ourselves, but always to be shared with those around us.
For those who are going through a difficult circumstance, let Paul’s words be of hope to you; even our suffering shapes and forms us to learn to look for and rely on God fully. You are not alone. Turn to the God of comfort, allow God to help you comfort others, and know that your situation, though painful, is molding you into the likeness of Christ.
