A Just God

Luke 18:1-8
The idea of justice is discussed a lot in our society. Superhero movies tell us a story of people seeking justice. Justice, of course, is to make things right.
We all crave justice because we desire for things to be made whole and good again in the midst of broken situations. Collectively, the human race is crying out, just as the widow does in this passage, for justice to be done—for things to be made right, for things to be good.
However, while society may tell us that revenge is the way for true justice to reign, Jesus offers something else. The Gospel of Luke tells us that Jesus will not drag His feet in order that justice will prevail.
So, friends, do not seek revenge as justice for the wrongdoing in your lives; rather, trust that our Lord Jesus Christ is working on your behalf. This may look different than we expect, and it may take longer than we hope, but I wonder if our patient trust in the Lord will reveal something greater than we can imagine.
