What Is Your Choice?
October 25th, 2024
Joshua 24:14-21
I have yet to find a person who really enjoys being told what to do. Perhaps it is because I spend so much of my time with my children and others’ children at school, but even the adults I know don’t like having to “follow orders.” We like to think we have some say in what we do. We prefer to believe that we have some power in our situation.
While we don’t always have a choice in our jobs, communities, and family lives, we do have a choice when it comes to God. God does not force anyone to follow Him. God is not a puppet master, pulling the strings of our lives, creating a story with no input from the characters.
Joshua knew he could not make the people choose God, not with their entire hearts and minds. Sure, they may say with their mouths that they follow, but the kind of allegiance required by God means a whole, full-hearted obedience. That only comes with free choice. What a gift!
What do you choose today? Embrace God with all your heart, soul, strength, and mind.
