The Truth of All This
October 2nd, 2024
Daniel 7:15-22
In Daniel 7:16, amidst the euphoria of the entire passage regarding the end of all things in verse 22, we see Daniel wanting to know the truth. Daniel sought the truth of all things because the visions of his head were troubling to him. Well, of course they’d be troubling. Strange beasts, one like the Son of Man coming in the clouds, and a beast burning in eternal flames! Who wouldn’t want to know the truth in all this?
We are a people who know by faith in Jesus as the Son of God who took upon himself the sin of the world that He is the truth and that His kingdom is without end. Yet this truth for Daniel needed to be more than just some tale or legend. It is as if we hear C.S. Lewis echoing those familiar words that “whatever the Gospels are, they are no legends.”
Our human sense of truthful assurance was in Daniel as it was in Pontius Pilate, as it is in us. When we read these words, we know they are indeed the truth.
