Accountability to Restoration
April 26th, 2024
Galatians 6:1-10
As I entered the bus, the man looked up, surprised to see me. It had been a while since we had seen each other, and his innocent question opened a flood of emotions.
“Are you doing all right?” he asked. I was not. I had been on a downward spiral, and this Christian friend’s encounter began a correction to my path. Ironically, I had done the same for him a few years earlier. My restorative reminder helped him restore his trajectory and avoid tremendous sadness.
There is much to glean from Galatians 6, but the last sentence of the first verse is important! “But watch yourself, or you may be tempted.”
These verses remind us that we must get acquainted with ourselves.
My friend on the bus and I learned accountability. Paul knew that accountable instruction was an important component of discipleship.
Find someone you trust and practice accountability with them. Humility begins with self-examination. With self-examination and humility, restoration is possible.
