Luke 12:1-12
What’s the biggest crowd you have been in? Was it a concert, sporting event, or maybe a local festival? Did you ever feel lost and alone in a large crowd? Crowds can be fun for the right reasons, but they can also be alarming when you realize that something is wrong.
In Luke 12, Jesus warns of a crowd of thousands beginning to trample each other. This crowd is a dangerous one. Jesus tells them to stand guard against hypocrisy and lies and to trust that the truth will come to light. They are not to fear what others can do to them for standing up for the gospel. Instead, Jesus says to fear the One who has not forgotten us and trust Him to get us through it.
Today, we are reminded that it’s not the behavior or opinion of the crowd that should matter to us. What matters is the condition of our hearts before God. If God cares about tiny sparrows and knows the number of hairs on our heads, we can trust Him to take care of us. He sees us and knows us, no matter how big the crowd is.
