Promise of New Life
November 14th, 2023
Ezekiel 37:7-14
I played soccer in college and sometimes at the end of practice we would run sprints. We would line up at one side of the field and run our hearts out to the other. We would give it all we had and feel very accomplished and exhausted. Thinking we were done, our coach would call us to the line and we would have to run one or two more times! This was his was way of showing that our bodies are capable of much more than our minds think. In fact, our minds tell us to give up way before our bodies actually need a break!
The dry bones represented the people of Israel and they had given up. They had no hope. God responded to the bones with the promise of new life in the Spirit.
Followers of God, we have the best hope in the gospel of Jesus. We know that the dry bones can live again. Not only do we have this hope, but this hope can be shared with the world through us! Thanks be to God because there is hope!
