Holy and Pure
June 3rd, 2023
1 Thessalonians 4:1-8
I live on top of a huge salt mine. Just a short distance beneath this little town, people are working hard to pull from the earth salt that is pure enough to use for pharmaceutical purposes, among other things. As one who wears contact lenses, I can appreciate the high purity standards that are expected of the salt that goes into my saline solution.
As Christ-followers, we are to be like that salt. We are called to live pure and holy lives so we can fulfill the purpose for which we were created. God created each of us in His image in the hope that we would be like Him, that we’d be mirrors of His love.
Fortunately, God doesn’t give us marching orders and turn us loose to figure out how to live a holy life by ourselves. (Can you imagine the mess that would be?) We have His Word, the Holy Spirit, and the ability to call on the Father at any time, at any place. It is, however, up to us to frequently check in with God for guidance and direction.
Consider taking time right now to check in with God. It’s better than figuring it out alone.
