Love Them Anyway
June 2nd, 2023
Romans 15:1-6
If we were to be truly honest with ourselves, I think we’d all agree that at least once in our lives we’ve been less than happy with the human race. One or more human beings have said or done something that irritated us just a little . . . or a lot. And, if we continued to be honest, we’ve all mentally told that person what we thought of them. Or worse, we actually demonstrated those thoughts with an unkind word or action.
It’s not always easy to remember that Jesus loves the person who cut you off in traffic, the clerk in the grocery store who won’t quit calling you “honey,” or the kid kicking your seat just as much as Jesus loves you. However, it’s true. He wants us to love them that much, too!
The truth is each and every one of us is downright flawed. We’ve each got our imperfections and chances are we’ve taken a turn at being “that person” to someone else. Paul offered great words of encouragement in Romans 15:5. May God help us to have Christlike attitudes toward everyone we encounter today . . . yes, even “that” person.
