Humble Sonatas

Romans 12:9-21
I am not a musician, but I admire those who are. Some spend many hours perfecting their craft, taking lessons and/or practicing. They learn what it takes to make melodies that please the ear and what it sounds like when the score falls short. People who can detect a specific sound and produce the perfect complement, or harmony, to the original sound are pretty cool in my book.
When Paul wrote to the Romans about living in harmony with one another, I doubt he was talking to the church choir about Sunday’s special. However, he was outlining a formula that would help them live their lives out as a sweet sonnet of humility. He reminded them that God loves it when everyone lives in unity. Then he mentions things like pride and not thinking too highly of oneself.
God desperately wants humanity to serve Him with humble hearts. The hymn of humility is a classic, one each of us should have in our repertoire.
