Do Not Fear

John 3:16-21
Have you ever been in a dark room with a black light? It can be eerie and ethereal. Can I just say, “The lint!” Wearing a dark shirt into a room of black lights will ignite every speck of lint and more. Previously unknown “matter” is suddenly magnified in the glow of a black light.
The apostle John is explaining what a blessing this thought is from a spiritual perspective: Light exposes deeds of darkness! That is good because if the Light of the World did not reveal our deeds of darkness and sin, we would be doomed for eternity. When God stepped out of heaven and into earth, the brilliance of His love ignited truth and exposed sin. By the way of the cross, Jesus provides the remedy: “Whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16).
Be thankful today that despite the pain and embarrassment of our exposed sins, God provided a way of escape so that we can live in the light as He is in the light.
