I’ll Go

March 20th, 2023

Mark 14:53-59

I love a blazing fire on a wintry day. HIt’s hard to leave all that and go back out into the cold, isn’t it?

Mark 14 finds Peter nestled up to a fire on a cold night. Simultaneously, Jesus was enduring the worst humanity could dole out: mockery, torture, lies. All were ravenous to silence Him forever. All the while Peter was warming himself near the safety, and distance, of a soothing fire.

These days, it feels like culture is doling out its own share of venom against the Church. It’s nothing new, really. Yet it feels like a spirit of anti-Christ is at an all-time high. Considering this dissonance between culture and Christ, it can be difficult to leave the warmth and comfort of the Church into which Jesus welcomes His followers. Yet, His invitation to gather is accompanied by a command to leave the warmth of the fire and represent Him to a doubting world.

May God give us courage to leave the warmth of our own personal fires to take up His call to “go.”

Well said, my friend! May each day we be reminded of our MISSION and not our comfort! May we focus on what is EFFECTIVE and not what is familiar.

Woe unto me if I fail to preach the gospel! Jesus is Lord of all! Lord over the world systems and over each of us! Much appreciated brother Tim. We press on in Jesus’ wonderful and powerful name! Amen.
