The Bible’s Message Endures
December 29th, 2022
1 Peter 1:22—2:3
Peter paints a wonderful word picture of what it means to plunge whole-heartedly into the Christian life. We may become so used to the words, that we miss the marvel. First, we are redeemed by the “precious blood of Christ” (v. 19). Then we are purified as we obey the truth; our lives become reflections of God’s love as we love others.
Simple, yet profound, but maybe not easy. The Bible has endured all these centuries to show us the way. As we sincerely seek its truth, the Holy Spirit instructs and enables.
But what does it even mean, to “love one another deeply, from the heart?” Just “each other?” And who is “each other?” These might be good questions to ponder throughout the coming year. As you receive insights, consider writing them down. At the end of the year, review how they have impacted your life and the lives of others.
When we are always turning toward God, and seeking His will by reading His Word and praying, we will have no interest in the evil Peter describes.
