Love Is The Greatest of All

1 Corinthians 13:1-13
We have become fascinated recently with the G.O.A.T (greatest of all time). Who is greatest quarterback, NBA star, or boxer? I have been in discussions where this question was posed and the answers varied.
Paul, speaking to the church at Corinth, points to the greatest when it comes to expressing Christlikeness in the world: love. He makes this clear by pointing out that a person may have gifts, knowledge, faith, and a self-sacrificing lifestyle, but without love, he/she is just making noise—-gaining nothing. Love is the key.
Why is love the greatest? 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 reveal why. What is greater than patience, kindness, humility, generosity, honor, others-focused, absence of rage, no score keeping, taking no pleasure in evil, rejoicing in truth, protecting, trusting, hoping, and persevering? Love never fails.
God calls us to express His love to others, through the power of the Holy Spirit. Faith is important. Hope is important. Yet the greatest is love.

Amen. His greatest commandment is to love God with all of our hearts, soul, and mind. The second is like it: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” On these two commandments hang all the Law of the Prophets. If Christ is the center of our hearts, the center of our lives, and the center of every action we take, then love will only follow. Praise His Holy Name forever + ever. Amen. Let us pray for the Holy Spirit to reside in each and every one of us and become more aware of his presence every day. Matthew 22:37
