Uniting The Body

1 Corinthians 10:14-22
Paul frequently repeats the instruction for churches to be unified. Divisions should not exist.
The Lord’s table becomes the central point of unity for the body of Christ as believers gather around God’s table. At His table, Christ is simultaneously the host and the meal itself. We gather at His table to remember His sacrifice. Through the bread and cup we symbolically remember who we are in Christ. We are His bride.
Paul quotes Deuteronomy 32:17 as he reminds the Church that there is only one God, and no other god is to be worshipped.
Today many cultural elements demand the attention of believers, but we must remain clearly focused on one God. We cannot have one foot in the church and the other in the world. As we gather at the Lord’s table each week, we are challenged to live in unity. Anything less is to allow other gods to dwell among us. As the body of Christ, we are to be united in love and purpose.
