Christ, Our Only Salvation
April 10th, 2022
Acts 4:1-12
Much of the world was annoyed because of Jesus. After the healing of a lame man outside the church door, Peter and John were preaching the gospel, especially the promise of the resurrection. This aggravated the priests, the temple’s captain, and, of course, the Sadducees. You see, the Sadducees did not believe in anyone’s resurrection. That word “disturbed” in verse 2 literally means “strongly annoyed” or “irked.” But isn’t that much the way it still is today?
Today we’re directed to put our faith in national leaders or a political party. We are expected to seek to be our true selves. We’re urged to place anything and everything before our relationship with the Father. None of those things will matter when we come to the end of life. The only One who matters is Jesus. For some, the very mention of His name brings strong, negative feelings.
Where is Jesus in your list of priorities today? If He is a few rungs down on the ladder, it would be wise to move Him up to the top spot. We are talking about eternal salvation here, something that’s found only in Christ.
