Psalm 34:8-14

Doing good and pursuing peace go hand in hand. When we look closely at the things that rob us and our world of peace, it is generally acts of sin and evil.

We can see this illustrated in our own homes. I’ve noticed in our home, when things are the most lacking peace, it is usually because of sin. These sins whether done by me, or by others, causes a deep disruption in our home that moves us away from peace. These moments of conflict in our home are really just microcosms of a lack of peace on a larger scale.

A lack of peace in our world is caused by injustice, racism, selfishness, pride, lust, a desire for power; in short the cause is sin. These sins done on a broader and more systemic level, lead to unrest, conflict, and war in our world.

The way to pursue peace is to turn our hearts from evil and to do good. To repent of sin, we turn our lives in a completely different direction, towards God who is good and who is life. When we do good, we will also find that we are pursuing peace.

i have alot of resentment and selfishness, I am severely ill and cannot travel. My only wish was to visit Wikaki beach before I die. My friend who lives with me and my husband do not understand it. My illness has made us destitute so we couldn,t go even if i was physically capable, my emotions have demolished peace in our home. I don,t know how to find peace. I am so depressed and angry most of the time. What should I do?

I have been selfish in the past also. I can see that through your illness and circumstances you could be resentful. I will pray for you that the LORD will show you the blessings in your life, to see beauty of nature, and the love He has for you.
