Necessary Workers

1 Corinthians 15:50-58
Paul placed a high value on the work we do for the kingdom of God. His own testimony indicated that he was among the hardest working apostles (1 Corinthians 15:10). It was not an arrogant boast, but a recognition that the grace of God was working profoundly in his missionary activity. He was tireless, often under great threat and pressure, but nevertheless, always “on the job.”
Our present service to the “already, not-yet kingdom of God,” will at times be costly. It will often be unappreciated, or even opposed and resisted. But we are not working for a “garland,” a prize that will fade and die. We are looking forward to the reality for which we are being prepared from the moment we offer ourselves in surrender and trust into the hands of the Resurrected Lord. We become hands and feet for Jesus in this present world as we prepare ourselves and as many as we can bring with us for the everlasting, final, and glorious kingdom that will be ushered in at His return.
