Home Is Where We Teach
January 9th, 2022
Proverbs 3:27-35
I was praising and recognizing my sister who posted a picture of her 3-year-old grandchild praying for her. We talked about the values of raising our kids in the Christian faith and she told me a funny story of her grandchild’s response to her preschool teacher. She asked all the children, “What do you do in the living room?” Her answer was, “That’s the place where we pray and read the Bible”.
Our home is the place where we teach the most important lessons to our kids, they will not only remember them, but it will also stick with them until they die. If the example at home is bad, the only way to get rid of those bad teachings is by surrendering to God and getting help from a therapist. What we do in our home leaves a great impact: what we say, the way we treat each other, our beliefs, and how we treat our neighbors.
Blessed is the home that gives honor, respect, and grace. Those who patiently bear contempt, humble themselves, seek God’s love and care, and show an open heart for others, will be blessed by God’s grace to make their homes a blessed place.
