Heart of a Servant

Matthew 23:1-12
What a privilege it must be for Moses to write and apply the law to the Israelites. Although, I think it had to be very challenging. Moses is one of my favorite characters from the Bible and he has certainly inspired my life as a pastor and leader. But how naïve I may be if I attempt to be or feel like I can do what he did.
As Christians, we are called to be humble and discreet in a society that is very judgmental and open to airing their opinions, demanding their rights, and capitalizing on privileges. Being in the position of a servant is not very appealing to us. We want to be the boss, the one with the privilege and not the one who serves others. So, I have to ask myself, do I want to be like Moses as a servant? Or do I want the fame and privileges of Moses?
I don’t need to open my heart to others. Instead, I need to open my heart to God and ask for His grace to help me want to love and serve others with a humble attitude, with the heart of a servant.

God can and does make us WANT to love others. He has done it for me.
