Believe In Him
December 10th, 2021
John 12:42-50
Jesus demands a response. His words, His very life, call for a decision. Will we respond in faith, believe and receive Him as Savior and Lord? Or, will we attempt to ignore, devalue, or deny Him? Like some of the Pharisees will we “not openly acknowledge” our faith? (12:42). Will we let fear force us into the shadows? Jesus said, “I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in me should stay in darkness” (12:46).
Jesus was passionate about this. He cried out, “Whoever believes in me does not believe in me only, but in the one who sent me” (12:44). To believe in Jesus is to believe in the heavenly Father. Jesus reveals the Father to us. Try to reduce Him to anything less and we lose Him entirely.
In the same way, Jesus’ words are the Father’s words. Earlier Jesus said, “Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life” (John 5:24). We must believe in Him.
