The Light of Reconciliation
November 28th, 2021
Colossians 3:1-13
On this first Sunday of Advent, the people of God are called to begin anew the journey from the manger to Pentecost. We need this reminder every year to slow down and put our priorities in order. We wait for the light of Christ to come into the world.
The divine reconciliation is at hand! We think more about love, compassion, and giving. Advent is a joyful time! Still, we sometimes forget the very core significance of this season: being reconciled to God through Christ. This is not where reconciliation ends, though. It’s where reconciliation begins. Because God has forgiven us and provided a way for us to be reconciled to Him, we are called in turn to be reconciled to each other.
Reconciliation is the trunk of the tree grown out of roots of God’s love. God’s word calls us to forgive generously. If we want to experience the miracle of Advent, we must start with forgiveness. God will add to us the joy, peace, and hope that light the way to the birth of our Savior.
