Life In God

John 17:1-10
Love requires an object. Love flows from our hearts and our hands into the lives of others. Love is the act of putting another before yourself. This is why Jesus said that there is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends (John 15:13).
Within the Holy Trinity, we glimpse perfect love and holy submission. Jesus continually points to the Father. The Father exalts the Son. The Spirit is given by the Father and testifies about Jesus. Every day, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Spirit love one another in perfect and unceasing harmony.
We were made to know this God, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom God has sent. This is eternal life. God has “set his seal of ownership on us, and put His Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come” (2 Corinthians 1:22). The gospel is not only that there is life after death; the gospel is that there is life before death.
