Matthew 10:29-42
As Jesus prepared the twelve disciples to go out in His name and minister, He gave them this instruction, “Whoever finds their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life for my sake will find it” (Matthew 10:39). Jesus challenged His disciples, and us as well, to not hold our personal ambitions, goals, and control over our lives as more important than what He has for us.
When we relinquish control over our lives and give our present circumstances and future goals to Jesus, He will do far more than we ever could on our own. We really are better together with Jesus, than we are on our own, attempting to control everything ourselves. This, of course, defies our natural inclination to do things ourselves. We too often would rather be in control, even if the results are terrible, than relinquish control to someone else.
Human goals and efforts last only a lifetime. Heavenly goals are eternal. Today ask Jesus to help you to be led by His nail pierced hands and relinquish control to Jesus.
