Eternal Faith

Romans 6:15-23
Fifty years ago, Derl officiated his first funeral service. Last week, in retirement, he officiated another one. Between that first funeral fifty years ago and the last one there have been many. The easiest funerals are for those whom he has known and rejoiced with in life. They had a commitment to Jesus. They knew what it was to have admitted their need of Jesus, believed that He was Savior and confessed their sins. They looked forward to being with Christ for eternity.
Our concern isn’t about the amount of time for eternity. Someone said that if you have a steel ball the size of the earth and every one million years a little sparrow lands on it to sharpen its beak, flies away only to return another million years later and begin again, eternity would have just begun by the time the ball was the size of a pea.
Eternal time is incomprehensible, but who I spend that time with and where I spend that time is comprehensible: it is with God. He is the author and finisher of our eternal faith!
