The Kindness In Caution
March 12th, 2021
2 Thessalonians 3:6-15
I’ve discovered I’m really comfortable with someone when I can road trip with them and be content riding for hours in complete silence. I’ve also realized the better I get to know someone and care for them, the more opportunities surface for disagreement and conflict.
We run into conflicting ideas and strategies in life, from small everyday activities to worldviews and beliefs. We don’t typically choose to engage and work through these conflicts with those for whom we don’t care deeply or know all that well.
God’s loving heartbeat for all creation is the motivating drive for God’s instruction, direction, correction. Even the difficult directive Paul gives to the church in Thessalonica to distance or disassociate from those who do not obey has at its core a loving desire for restoration. God instructs and invites us to advise out of loving kindness interested in finding common ground and shared life. Are you open to God’s counsel?
