Not Without Hope

Lamentations 3:10-24
We often wish this life in God came with a no-trouble, money-back guarantee. We wish that finding our rest in God meant that we were saved from the trials and troubles of this world. And yet, this is simply not the case. We live in world broken by sin and, consequently, there will be seasons in life that are marked by darkness.
The people of God living in exile certainly lamented this reality. Exile was marked by dark, difficult days for the people of God. To many Israelites, it seemed as if God had abandoned them in that place and they wondered if life would ever be possible again.
But we are reminded in scripture that, even amid the most difficult of days, we have reason for hope: “Because of the Lord’s great love, we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail” (Lamentations 8:22). Even in the places of our deepest despair, we are encouraged to take hope in the truth that God’s faithful love will never fail us but will always sustain us and see us through.
