2 Timothy 1:1-5
Family plays a crucial role in perpetuating spiritual heritage. Some have the blessing of being raised in a home where faith in God has successfully been passed from generation to generation. Others have come from homes where faith in God was not practiced.
The truth about family heritage is it only takes one to break the generational heritage of faith or one to be the first in a generation who will live and teach the faith to future generations. Every individual in every family has the choice to continue from where they came or to break a cycle of disbelief.
In the case of Timothy, his grandmother and mother were faithful believers. But Timothy as well had to decide whether or not to continue following the faith that was modeled for him.
Are you part of a family with a rich generational Christian heritage? God desires you to keep passing it down! Are you one whose family rejected the Christian faith? God can use you to be the first of generations to come!
