God’s Words Are Flawless

Psalm 12:1-8
I imagine you’re either heard someone say it or read it on social media: people are convinced the world is the worst off it has ever been. The news is terrifying to watch.
The psalmist could identify with our feelings: “no one is faithful anymore; those who are loyal have vanished from the human race” (Psalm 12:1). Even in biblical times, the world seemed out of orbit. Neighbors told “lies” and people were backstabbers. The poor were plundered and the needy deemed unworthy of care. The world was a sad, ugly mess.
But God has flawless, pure, beautiful, true words. The words of the Lord are so pure and true, we do not have to fear the twisted ways of the world. In fact, God’s words are so trustworthy, we know that when God says, “I will protect them from those who malign [the poor]” (Psalm 12:5). He will do just that.
We don’t have to hide from the crazy world. We can join God in speaking pure words and helping “keep the needy safe” (Psalm 12:7).
