Troubles? Take Them To God
June 29th, 2020
Nehemiah 4:1-12
Bullying is an epidemic in our society. Statistics show that, nationwide, about 20% of students ages 12-18 experience some type of bullying. Even as adults we can experience bullying.
Nehemiah, in a sense, was being bullied. God had commanded Nehemiah and His people to rebuild the city wall. The people obediently began to build. However, Sanballat and Tobiah mocked, ridiculed, and made of fun of the work they were doing. How did Nehemiah respond to these bullies? He prayed. Nehemiah went to God and placed this trouble at the feet of the Almighty. How did the people respond? They remained faithful to God and continued to build despite the bullying they encountered.
Are you experiencing some form of bullying? If you feel like you are being bullied or know someone who is, first pray for God’s guidance, wisdom, and power. Then, consider going online to research ways to deal with bullying, getting input from a trusted friend, or speaking to a professional or someone in authority.
