Ezra 10:1-8

The remnant of Israel, who had come home after living through generations in exile, were survivors. They had firsthand experience with God who does not give up.

As Ezra continued to pray and weep, one of the people came with this reminder “But in spite of this, there is still hope for Israel” (Ezra 10:2c). This does not have to be the end. There is hope for a new beginning; a new future for this people to be a light to the nations.

However, restoration and recommitment will cost something, perhaps even more than anticipated. They cannot undo the mistakes made in the past without causing hurt and pain to some.  Some will bear the scars of these choices for generations to come. As the people seek to move forward into the hope that God has for them, there will be sacrifice. Our God is a jealous God and asks that we give everything, our entire selves, that we might live in the love, hope, and grace that God yearns to share with us.
