Spiritual Vision

John 9:1-12
Jesus cast light wherever He went. Jesus was teaching and preaching and living God’s light in a dark world. When Jesus and His disciples encountered a man born blind, the disciples asked a very common question: “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?” Jesus knew that blindness was not caused by sin and went about correcting the record.
The Pharisees and even the disciples themselves believed they had perfect spiritual vision. They knew the rules, the customs, and the laws; they sought to obey them. Sin is not the cause of someone born blind. But sin is the cause of the Pharisees who schemed to keep people in the dark for their own benefit.
Everywhere Jesus went He brought the light of truth to the intent of God’s word. Our spiritual vision as well as our world views are only in line with God’s heart if the light of Jesus’ life and ministry has shone on them.
