No Other Name

Acts 4:1-12
The healing of the lame beggar at the Gate Beautiful so filled the people with wonder and amazement that they came running and thronged Peter and John at the temple colonnade. This ruckus caught the attention of the priests and the captain of the temple guard who were so disturbed by it all that they threw Peter and John in jail. The next day they were brought before the high court to be asked, “By what power or what name did you do this?”
No greater moment of attention and expectation had been afforded Peter so, filled with the Holy Spirit, he went for it! He boldly explained that the kindness shown to the lame beggar was done in the great name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, the one whom they had crucified but God had raised again! They proclaimed, “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12).
What a punctuation mark on an event that began with faithful pilgrims heading into the temple to pray their daily prayers!
