Waters Of Righteousness
March 15th, 2020
Psalm 1:1-6
My youngest son has begun to show an interest in gardening. His grandmother helped him start several different seeds. He has instructions for how much light they need, what temperature is best, and how to water them the right amount.
The psalmist compares the righteous person to a tree planted by a stream of water. A creek wanders through a field, and strong, green willows drape their limbs over the water. Likewise, the psalmist compares the wicked to dry chaff, trash, tossed about in the wind.
What is the difference between the two? We may think personal characteristics are the measure, but the whole of the Psalms (and Scripture) seems to indicate that righteousness looks like right dealings with others. Remember when some teachers asked Jesus what the greatest of all their commandments were? His answer was to love God with everything and love your neighbor.
Allow God to water your life with His love and freely share that with your neighbors.
