Hide And Seek
January 19th, 2020
Psalm 139:1-12
Hide and Seek is a classic, fun game. Because they don’t really understand what is supposed to happen, it is particularly fun to play with children under the age of five. They hide in plain sight and are surprised when you find them. If you don’t find them right away, they call out to you, revealing their location.
We are kind of like a five-year-old playing hide and seek when we try to hide from God. The Psalmist says, “Surely the darkness will hide me” (Psalm 139:11a). He comes to realize that the darkness is not even dark to God. God knows us inside and out, He knows where we are no matter how hidden we may think we are. He knows our thoughts and fears; God even knows what we are going to say before we say it.
This is good news for us! God knows us inside and out. There is no where we can go that He can’t find us. Let’s not try to play hide and seek with God. Rather, let us trust and rest in His love, knowing that He is always with us.
