Incorruptable and Compassionate
November 7th, 2019
Luke 18:1-8
Aren’t we glad that we don’t have to wear God down? God is not like the unjust judge who finally says of the widow’s persistent plea, “O, give her what she wants and get her out of here!” God doesn’t say, “Wait until he or she prays about this matter twelve more times, or wait until they do two or three more good deeds.” God’s answers are like Jesus said ours should be: yes is yes, no is no. The God of the Bible is a God of revelation. He deals in clarity not obscurity.
God’s justice is not negotiated. It cannot be bought. Remember what the Lord said to Moses out of the inexhaustible bush: “I have indeed seen the misery of my people in Egypt. I have heard them crying out because of their slave drivers, and I am concerned about their suffering. So I have come down to rescue them . . .” (Exodus 3:7-8b). Our adversary is powerful, but our Judge is just. He will act with loving compassion on behalf of all who call out to Him in faith.
