Do Follow Up

1 Corinthians 3:1-11
Paul not only planted churches but followed up on the spiritual growth of converts. And frankly, he is disappointed in the Corinthian believers. By now, they should have grown in the faith, finding ways to serve God. Instead, they are jealous and quarrelsome. They are more interested in prestige and connections than in following Christ.
In 1 Corinthians 3, the Corinthians have taken as their foundation the person under whose ministry they were converted—either Paul or Apollos. But Paul reminds the Corinthians that he and Apollos are mere servants, doing the tasks for which God has called them. Christ is their only foundation, as He should be for the Corinthian believers.
Christians today might look at the Corinthian church as described by Paul and wonder, “What were they thinking?” But we are not immune to basing our self-worth on worldly values—perhaps even taking pride in what church we attend or whose ministry we follow. How does Paul’s message to the Corinthians have application in my life today?
