Do It All In Love
July 24th, 2019
1 Corinthians 16:1-14
Dozens of children had walked for miles, some unaccompanied, to the Campus Church on Sunday. They knew that day there would be stories, crafts, and most importantly food. Desperate for any type of nourishment, the workers had a problem, as there were more children than food available. What they served was simple, a slice of white bread and a cup of tea, but with all the additional children, there wasn’t enough bread and there wasn’t enough money to buy more. That’s when I saw it, down the path after church, removed from the other children. A little six-year-old boy tore his slice of white bread in half and shared it with a four-year-old boy. Their big beautiful brown eyes looked up at me, knowing I had stumbled upon this delicate moment.
The six-year-old could have kept it all for himself, as he too was starving, but generously gave what he had out of love. Often, there are hard things we don’t like to do, things that take too much time or interrupt our day. Whatever we do, we are called to do it in, and with, the love of Christ.
