Prayerfully Devoted
July 19th, 2019
Mark 7:5-13
When thinking of prayer, a picture comes to mind. A teen was getting ready for school. On her way out the door, she stopped by the living room to say goodbye to her mother. Peaking inside the room, the teen saw her mother kneeling on the floor by her chair. Her Bible was open in front of her and her face was streaming with tears. A notebook was open beside the Bible. It was full of names, now covered with tear-smudged ink. Her mom was pouring out her heart to God in prayer. This was a scene the teen saw many times, and will never fade away from her memory.
We can easily get swallowed up by all the things that go on in our daily lives. Our schedules are jammed-packed. So many things that fight for our attention. In the end, we need to realize that the things we choose to spend our time doing are what we teach our children are important. It is imperative that we teach our children to pray in thankfulness, in a deep and devoted way. What we do today will form what they do tomorrow.
