Romans 16:17-27
In Romans 16, we are reminded to watch out for those who cause divisiveness. Often times it happens within the people to whom we are the closest. There will be times in church, where the choices made or the ministries started, do not fit with what our personal choices would be. It does and will happen everywhere.
The question is how do we respond? Do we handle situations in a respectful and biblical way or do talk amongst ourselves about how we dislike the situation or decisions? These simple differences of opinion can turn into detriments, divisions, and difficult obstacles for people, ministries, and communities to overcome.
We are reminded to keep vigilant for those who are out to divide and oppose that which God is doing in and through His people. Sometimes we can be part of the problem even if we don’t realize it. With that in mind, we need to pray, “Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting” (Psalm 139:23-24).
