Redemptive Confrontations
July 10th, 2019
Matthew 5:17-26
One of the biggest lies in our society today is that confrontation is negative. Left alone, disagreements and misunderstanding morph into bitterness and spite.
Misunderstandings handled incorrectly can turn into the sin of gossip. Unchecked, sin continues and spreads like a cancerous tumor. These sins will ruin relationships, pull families apart, and rip through the unity necessary for a healthy church community.
On the other hand, confrontation, when done prayerfully and with love, can be a beautiful thing. Healthy confrontation can bring reconciliation with both God and our brothers and sisters in Christ. Confrontation sheds light on misunderstandings and disagreements before they have the chance fester into something more damaging.
When dealing with confrontation, it is important to remember that there is a biblical way to handle the situation. The questions to ask yourself are:
- Are you avoiding confrontation?
- Are you handling situations in a biblical and healthy way?
