1 Peter 4:12-19
Praying for the persecuted church is important. A missionary shared that in a country where churches are bombed, people meet together in public anyway. Boldly, they put a large cross on top of their building with the pastor’s name and phone number on the door. Talk about boldness! Since Christ died, 70 million people have been martyred for their faith. Remembering this helps us with perspective as our suffering for Christ may not be as harsh as giving our lives.
Christ was beaten and whipped, a crown of thorns smashed on his head, and nails pounded into His hands and feet. We may or may not identify with the sufferings of Christ, or with these believers. Yet Christ identifies with us. When we suffer for doing God’s will, Christ understands, relates, and soothes our aching heart. Christ gives us peace in the midst of our suffering that only He can give. Take a minute to tell God your heartache; experience the love of God and a renewed commitment to stand strong in your faith.
