We Are Alive in Christ

Colossians 2:6-15
No one is perfect. We all have our hang ups. As long as nobody is getting hurt, why does it matter? We’ve heard these statements more times than we can count, maybe even from our mouths. Are they true? When we accept the gift of salvation, God takes away our sinful nature. Though we are imperfect and easily tempted we are no longer bound to sin.
We have freedom to choose holiness. In sinning, we are choosing our way over God’s way. In choosing God’s way, sanctification—the process of being made holy—begins. Will we ever live a life totally and completely free from sin? The answer is: yes, it is possible!
In baptism, we go under the water symbolizing in part the death of our old self and are raised up to new life, just as Jesus was. Every choice we make that keeps us from sinning makes us stronger and helps us grow in our faith. How are you living this new life? Is your pursuit of God at the center? Sin has no power over us, when we choose to live into this new life.
