Identify With Christ

Philippians 2:5-13
What’s in an identity? The whole concept of identity is full of interesting challenges.
Conventional wisdom often assumes that identity comes from relationships–family, place, achievements (or even failures!) While there is some truth to this, there is a better truth about identity to consider. Philippians 2:5 addresses this very issue.
As Christians, we draw our identity from our relationship with Jesus. This is a profound truth! Because we have an incomparable model in Christ, therefore, our objective is to achieve a match . . . between our identity and His.
There are three things you need to know about your identity in Christ. First, Jesus gave himself to the great reversal: Neglecting advantage for the sake of service. Next, He overturned the pressure to succeed thus producing humility that leads to self-less exaltation. Finally, God is at work producing your identity from the pattern of the Son.
