God Cares

Luke 18:31-43
Our toddler is very adept at pointing out a small injury—like a scrap on her finger—and looking for a kiss for that injury. Several times a day she will bring it to a family member for the proper care: kiss my boo-boo, please. Usually she looks to one of her parents, trusting that our care and concern will take care of the problem.
As Jesus is journeying with his disciples, preparing them for his coming death and resurrection, a blindman overhears and cries out, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” (v. 38). He didn’t hesitate. The blindman didn’t shy away, uncertain if he should interrupt or if Jesus could really help. Despite the nay-sayers trying to hush him up and drag him away from Jesus, the blindman called out to him.
Jesus listened and asked this courageous man what it was that he wanted: to see. What faith he had in Jesus to be able to care for him! Once he received his sight, he didn’t disappear or quiet down. He shouted God’s praise!
Do you trust God to take care of you in good times and bad times? Pray for God’s grace to trust him more.
